OS-Cubed in cooperation with Knowledge Athletes has completed the next phase of the Kajour Grammaticon(r) product.  The product is now capable of publishing classes between classrooms and subscribing to those publications so that students and teachers can use the web to create collaborative classroom environments between classes, schools or even other countries.

Recently Microsoft released important security updates for Exchange server, Windows server and nearly all their operating systems.  The updates cover vulnerabilities in the way DNS is handled in products across the board.  This particular vulnerability is present in most versions of Linux, Apple products and others - it's a fundamental flaw in the way DNS works.  If the flaw were exploited the hacker could redirect you from a site you should be going to to another site - without your knowledge.  It's very important to update this month using Windows Update.  If anyone would like assistance in running updates and patches please give the office a call - we'll get you scheduled asap.

The Exchange vulnerability is in Outlook Web Access and should also be patched as it would allow a bad guy to hack your Exchange server using XSS (cross site scripting).

DNN has released a security update to their web software.  We strongly recommend that customers update to version 4.8.3 or better to avoid a potential security hole.

OS-Cubed will be participating in the summer session of TEN (The Entrepreneur's Network).  Together with other Entrepreneurs in the Rochester area OS-Cubed will be learning how best to grow their core business. 

Lee will be speaking to the Rochester PTAC community on the subject of  web content management and web marketing to the government on May 21, 2008 at the downtown PTAC center. 

Lee presented to the Penfield Symphony Orchestra board on the subject of "raising money and sponsorships for non-profit organizations". 

Lee did a presentation to the local Rochester, NY PTAC (Procurement Technical Assistance Center).  The presentation concentrated on optimizing your website for government contracting, and creating an effective marketing campaign.  The presentation was supplemented by a presentation from Tim Klimasewski on Spectracom's experience with marketing to the government.

OS-Cubed has released it's first commercial product - OS3MoveIt!.  The application allows technicians to easily move files from one domain to another, and to map the security between domains.  User names and Group names do not need to match, and file lists to be moved can be created in an incremental fashion.

Using the tool OS-Cubed customers have transitioned files to a new system where they didn't have administrative rights on the originating system, in just a few hours, with security intact.  The time spent transitioning files was cut by 80% due to not having to re-enter file share permissions.

OS3MoveIt! is a Microsoft tested and certified Microsoft Platform application based on .NET 2.0.  The product is being offered at a reduced license fee of $695 in it's initial roll-out.

AAIR is in the final stretch of deploying their SequelSys based EMR system.  In this final phase OS-Cubed will be placing HP workstations and Acer monitors on Ergotron Wall Mount arms.  This will allow patient information to be brought up directly in the exam room, and updated in real time.  OS-Cubed is proud to assist AAIR in the deployment of their EMR system, and in assisting other medical companies in achieving the creation of optimal, stable and secure solutions to their business needs.

 

 

OS-Cubed, Inc. has grown it's office space by 50% taking over the unit next to us at the Village Gate.  This will allow us to add more staff, set up a state of the art hardware support and service area for setting up and repairing servers and workstations, add more storage for equipment and space, and have a separate lunch and relaxation area at the office.  The new space gives OS-Cubed 1/2 of the total square feet available on the 4th floor of 274 N. Goodman St.

OS-Cubed, Inc. has completed the DotNetNuke based conversion of the website for Terry Tree Service, Inc. - the number 2 fastest growing company in Rochester.  www.terrytree.com is up and running based on DNN - and the owners are excited about the ability to add and edit their own content.  They were able to add information on the feature article in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle as soon as the article appeared on the D&C's site.

Northeastern Pool and Spa is preparing for their grand opening in April.  Watch this space for up to date news on their new location!

 

OS-Cubed, in cooperation with Rochester Builder's Exchange has created a scan indexing system.  The system processes incoming PDF documents which are "image-only" (that is just an image of a scanned page), uses Abbyy Fine Reader to OCR the documents, adds the text back into the PDF as a text-over-image, then extracts the text to a database for indexing.  Users can then search the documents, both within the document and across multiple documents.  The system works with legacy image-only pdf documents - scanning them in the background to make them available.

This will enhance the capability and performance of their electronic planroom.  Syracuse Builders Exchange contributed a portion of the development, and will also deploy the system.  After both systems are deployed most of the upstate region electronic plan rooms will have ocr/scan capability.

Broadly deployed commercialized versions of the system are being discussed.
