Content Managed Websites

Think all web developers are the same? Think again:
- Most web development companies are marketing companies first, and web development companies second. Some even subcontract out the development portion of the site. At OS-Cubed we'll work with your designers to take their artistic content and make it run better than an artist ever can.
- We look at ALL the aspects of your website - not only how it looks, but how your users interact with it and how to entice your visitors to achieve your websites goals.
- We build your website so it looks good even if you're using an alternative browser.
- We optimize the content of your site so that search engines will find you - without having to "game" the search engine.
- We only create sites where YOU manage the content. You can, using our platform, add pages, delete pages, create new modules, and easily reorganize or redeploy areas of your sites. You can allow users to login and access private sections of the site - and track their behavior once they've logged in.
- Our sites are designed to reduce your total cost of ownership - gone are the days where you have to pay the web developer (And wait and wait and wait for your change) every time you make a change to the site.
- Our professional site hosting is on servers we manage and control. This gives you the greatest flexibility for deploying specialty modules on your site.
At OS-Cubed, Inc. we believe in building efficient, easy to use, content managed sites. All our new sites are built on a new open-source content management platform that allows us to deliver a custom site, based on the latest .NET and MS SQL Server technologies. Our clients love having the ability to edit their own content and manage their own calendars and news, without any special software and tools.
We love having the ability to deliver beautiful, custom designed sites quickly and efficiently. Ultimately scaleable, the content management system makes it easy to create everything from small brochure systems to a fully functional E-Commerce site.
Our system consultants will work directly with your business process experts to create a custom site that will follow your business needs, addressing the issues and goals you wish to achieve. Our design crew will assist you in creating the correct site layout and design, and our expert programmers will assist in customizing the site directly to your requirements and needs. Together we create exactly the site you want with a reasonable initial cost and much lower cost of ownership than your typical html based site. Most importantly we'll create a site you control.
For examples of sites we've created on this new content management platform see the following websites:
- The OS-Cubed site - the site you're on now is one of our content managed sites. We are so confident in our software we use it for our own site.
- Builders Exchange of Rochester - the Builders Exchange wanted a site redesign to bring their older dated site up to the 21st century, while enabling them to control their own content.
- Structured Technologies - Structured wished to redesign their site to concentrate on their new technologies, and allow them to control the content and add new information themselves.
- Tabtronics, Inc. - The Tabtronics site features a membership controlled login for white papers, a glossary module, and a rather sophisticated request-for-quote form. The look and feel are a huge improvement over their old site, as well as a vast improvement in navigation. Over 50% of the original content of the site was entered by the users themselves.
- SMACNA - The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors of Rochester wanted a site that reflected the high end look and feel of their organization. Their site is the result of an intensive design study and implementation cycle to create a new modern site which they can manage. 100% of the content of this site was entered and controlled by the end users.

| It's patch Tuesday..... - Tuesday, August 12, 2008 |
| How up to date are you? - Monday, July 21, 2008Recently Microsoft released important security updates for Exchange server, Windows server and nearly all their operating systems. The updates cover vulnerabilities in the way DNS is handled in products across the board. This particular vulnerability is present in most versions of Linux, Apple products and others - it's a fundamental flaw in the way DNS works. If the flaw were exploited the hacker could redirect you from a site you should be going to to another site - without your knowledge. It's very important to update this month using Windows Update. If anyone would like assistance in running updates and patches please give the office a call - we'll get you scheduled asap.
The Exchange vulnerability is in Outlook Web Access and should also be patched as it would allow a bad guy to hack your Exchange server using XSS (cross site scripting). read more ... |

| OS3MoveIt! Hits the market - Tuesday, February 26, 2008OS-Cubed has released it's first commercial product - OS3MoveIt!. The application allows technicians to easily move files from one domain to another, and to map the security between domains. User names and Group names do not need to match, and file lists to be moved can be created in an incremental fashion.
Using the tool OS-Cubed customers have transitioned files to a new system where they didn't have administrative rights on the originating system, in just a few hours, with security intact. The time spent transitioning files was cut by 80% due to not having to re-enter file share permissions.
OS3MoveIt! is a Microsoft tested and certified Microsoft Platform application based on .NET 2.0. The product is being offered at a reduced license fee of $695 in it's initial roll-out. read more ... |

| PDF OCR and Indexing service moves into production - Saturday, December 23, 2006OS-Cubed, in cooperation with Rochester Builder's Exchange has created a scan indexing system. The system processes incoming PDF documents which are "image-only" (that is just an image of a scanned page), uses Abbyy Fine Reader to OCR the documents, adds the text back into the PDF as a text-over-image, then extracts the text to a database for indexing. Users can then search the documents, both within the document and across multiple documents. The system works with legacy image-only pdf documents - scanning them in the background to make them available.
This will enhance the capability and performance of their electronic planroom. Syracuse Builders Exchange contributed a portion of the development, and will also deploy the system. After both systems are deployed most of the upstate region electronic plan rooms will have ocr/scan capability.
Broadly deployed commercialized versions of the system are being discussed. |
