Developing an extranet or business-to-business solution (B2B) becomes more than double the challenge of developing a brochure or intranet site. You now need to consider the stability, security, culture, and business processes of not only the person providing the site, but also of the customers, partners, or vendors using the site. Compared to intranet sites, extranet sites require even more planning and focus on the various parts that go into the site.
You need to develop a scope that can be reasonably accomplished within the budget. In addition, you must identify the customer base that the extranet site serves and determine their overall technical capability and expectations. You then must determine what data needs to be presented, captured, or modified. Since you have no control over security at the target user's site you must compensate by being sure that your solution is secure.
We then evaluate existing or standard tools that might be used to deliver the solution, and if there are gaps we help to scope and develop tools to fill those gaps.
- Total Information, Inc., needed a website that would allow them to easily manage the hundreds of book orders they receive per day and to accommodate the various corporate buying structures of the large companies they service. We helped develop and maintain the site, and we continue to customize it to fit their needs.
- The Leadership Factor needed us to develop a custom platform for providing surveys for their unique and patented method of delivering surveys to members and analyzing the results. The web platform (based on IIS and MS SQL Server) we built for them has assisted them in delivering surveys to clients across the world. In addition they can analyze and gather results on the fly.
