Lee Drake will be presenting to a group of YMCA professionals on the topic of social media use for Not for profit (NFP) organizations.  The presentation given at the annual Northeast Association of YMCA Professionals (AYP) conference will cover aspects of social media including tools, do's and don'ts and an overview of the different types of problems that SM can solve.

AYP is the professional society for YMCA staff members in the United States. As a membership organization, national in scope, it has been in existence since 1871.  The presentation can be accessed here

Lee Drake presented to a number of local businesses on how to bring more government based traffic to your websites for government contractors.   The local Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) invited Lee to come in and speak to a group of about 20 businesses on content management, website SEO and paid marketing campaigns.

As a board member of the Monroe County Job Service Employment Committee (JSEC) - an organization dedicated to advocating for small business with the Department of Labor and communicationg DOL policy to small business - I'm pleased to announce the rollout of their new website: www.monroejsec.org

The site developed in DNN 5.x Community Edition features a new calendar, downloadable newsletters and eventually will feature self-service mailing lists and registration for events.  All content is edited by the board members of the organization.

 Penfield Robotics Team 1511 came away on the winning alliance in the Rah Cha Cha Ruckus October 24th.  The off-season event organized and sponsored by the team pitted kids on multiple robotics teams competing with one another.

Thompson Health has contracted with OS-Cubed, Inc. to provide web hosting services for www.thompsonhealth.com and several subsidiary sites.  OS-Cubed was selected due to their extensive DNN experience, solid platform capabilities, secure hosting solutions, and ability to deliver cost savings for both development and hosting.

OS-Cubed has agreed to create a website for the Monroe JSEC. The Monroe County Job Service Employer Committee promotes better communications between businesses (employers) and the NYS Department of Labor. The site will be created in DotNetNuke a Microsoft based Open Source management platform.

CDS has rolled out their new DotNetNuke driven website www.careerdev.org .   The site, designed and built in DNN by OS-Cubed and a team of development experts features new capabilities and functionality for the Career Development Services team.  DNN was used as the base platform,

Our ongoing project for Knowledge Athletes has entered it's next phase of testing with several new features, including the ability for teachers and students to publish and subscribe to media and questions from other organizations.  This allows media and questions to be shared among users across town or across the world.  Knowledge Athletes won 2 SBIR grants for continued development, in part as a result of demos of software developed for KA by OS-Cubed, Inc.

According to the July 11th edition of the Rochester Business Journal, OS-Cubed is ranked among the top 25 Software developers in Rochester.  The top 25 list is compiled based on the number of developers, and other factors and covers software developers in the Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans and Wayne county areas.  OS-Cubed (established in 2005) is the youngest corporation on the list - most of the top developers have been around since before 2001.

As we start to roll into production mode, the Knowledge Athlete's project rolls into Phase IV of their development.  In this phase we'll be adding a number of new features, and begin the process of moving the already developed tools into a more scalable and universal platform.  Phase I-III of the Kajour.com project were designed around the idea of creating a demo of the educational/social media mix that would attract investors.  We're happy to say that so far that endeavour has been a success - KA has acquired significant funding as a result of their hard work, and the success of the demonstration technologies.

OS-Cubed, Inc. in cooperation with Bob Wright Creative Group has rolled out the new look and feel for Spectracom.  In addition, the site has been updated to the latest edition of DotNetNuke, and several new features were added.

Site design was done by Bob Wright Creative, and OS-Cubed did the site implementation, integrating the graphics and design specs created by Bob Wright, including skin creation, verison upgrading, module upgrades, implementing new SEO based menus, cross-browser integration, special forms and email implementations, and other improvements.

OS-Cubed has just signed an agreement with Knowledge Athletes to begin production of Phase III of the Student Blog project.  This phase will add a wide variety of administrative functions to the back-end of the system, allowing administrators, teachers and KA staff to add and modify content to the system.  Student Blog is written entirely using the DotNetNuke interface as a front end, SQL Server as a back end.  Through the use of threaded posts and Grammaticons students and teachers can score and comment on each other's entries.

OS-Cubed, Inc. has signed Spectracom as a web client.  We'll be taking over their web hosting, as well as ongoing development on their website.  In cooperation with Bob Wright Creative we'll be implementing the new design the BWR has put together for Spectracom.  You can see Spectracom's website at www.spectracomcorp.com

OS-Cubed has finalized and delivered the 2nd phase of the Knowledge Athletes website, deploying the site to more schools and adding 10 times the number of students in the original Phase I pilot.  So far the students have added hundreds of posts to the system.  New in Phase II is the implementation of GrammatIcons(tm), a methodology both for teachers to score students and for students to interact and comment on each other's posts.  GrammatIcons allow a student or teacher to highlight a section of a post on a website, score that post using various metrics, and make a comment on the content.

We're looking forward to creating Phase III of KA's website beginning in January 2008.

OS-Cubed has begun Phase II of the OCR for Builders Exchanges project.  This phase will upgrade the database in the OCR program to SQL 2005, and add improved search and result browsing functionality.  Phase I of the OCR project created a system that has so far taken over 2 Million pages of information from Project Plans and converted it to fully indexed, PDF searchable text for Builders Exchange members to search.

The project has been such a success that members demanded new and additional functionality to improve their search capabilities, Exchange owners throughout upstate NY will be providing this new functionality to their members upon completion of the project.

BCE Baltimore, has contracted with OS-Cubed for a redesign of their Builder's Exchange oriented website.  OS-Cubed will be working closely with this Baltimore based exchange to create a new and exciting look and feel and add content management to their web presence.

We'll be redesigning and redeploying the Builder's exchange website using the open-source premier content management platform DotNetNuke.

John and Jonathon, bakers extraordinaire, have contracted with OS-Cubed, Inc. to build a website for their bakery JonJohns.  The bakery will be relocating soon to a new location at the public market, and OS-Cubed will be assisting JonJohns in building a content managed wesbsite that fits their needs.

Eagle Veteran came to OS-Cubed with a unique challenge - build a complete content managed website in 3 days.  They had no logo, just a company name and some content to build out their site, as well as some ideas for design and layout.  We were able to quickly and inexpensively build a website for this disabled veteran, minority-owned business to meet federal deadlines for some important contracts.

With the help of Dot Net Nuke, the site was up in a few hours, and by the second day employees at Eagle Veteran were putting in content.  The entire project was delivered within a week.

OS-Cubed has completed the Knowledge Athletes project in time for it to be deployed to students last week for testing.  This innovative teaching methodology uses Dot Net Nuke as the framework for delivering unique interactive content to students and teachers.

Dave Miller, President of Knowledge Athletes, says: "I know I should be more modest, but I think we knocked it out of the park. Students are intrigued and the teacher loved it."

Knowledge Athletes has started a project to build and implement a DotNetNuke based collaborative student education system.  The system details are protected by non-disclosure, however OS-Cubed will be doing all the coding and hosting for the new platform.

Murphy Weinstein Law has engaged OS-Cubed to transition their data and systems to a new location, and install new servers, workstations and software to support their business needs.

Northeastern Pool and Spa, the premier supplier of pool and spa supplies to upstate NY has selected OS-Cubed to assist them in moving to their new location in East Rochester.  In addition, OS-Cubed will be doing a major infrastructure upgrade for NEPS - installing new workstations, servers, networking and VPN.  Northeastern Pool and Spa will also be working with OS-Cubed on an ongoing basis to support and service their systems.

We're proud to announce a new skin pack for Dot Net Nuke - our second released skin pack.  Bright Lines skin pack is our second in a series of successful skin packs offered for sale worldwide.  Our first pack has sold worldwide in countries such as Germany, UK Australia, and here in the US.  The skin pack can be seen on our skins website (skins.os-cubed.com) or on Snowcovered.

OS-Cubed is building a custom OCR scanning system for Rochester and Syracuse Builders exchanges.  The system will allow them to OCR their entire backlog of PDF files, and index those files in a master search table.  Custom DNN modules allow the documents to be searched, and the customized PDF allows searching within a document.

The system is scheduled for delivery in early December.

Unicon (Unions and Business United in Construction) goes live this week.  The unicon site again features DNN, and is completely content managed by the customer.  There is a directory listing featuring all the UNICON members, which is modified and maintained by board members.

Tabtronics and OS-Cubed have collaborated to create a brand new website.  The new website, like all our websites, features a state-of-the-art website content management platform, and Tabtronics added much of the content for their site themselves.  In addition, we incorporated modules to allow them to control their product catalog, and and to create a glossary of terms - automatically alphabetized.  To give you an idea of how easy it is to edit the site - the customer did all of the entry of their glossary of terms!

James Tabbi, CEO of Tabtronics, is excited about the new design for their site.   The layout allows users to much more easily navigate the site and find the information they need.  There are forms to fill out to request additional engineering information or custom configurations of their products. 

Dolin Thomas and Solomon, LLP - a major employment attorney firm in Rochester, NY - has engaged OS-Cubed, Inc. to convert existing single-user MS Access databases to multi-user SQL Server.  This will allow their current staff to more efficiently enter information about their class actions into a common database using multiple users simultaneously.

Described as a Technology Demo, WebHomeUSA.COM went live quietly on 3/1/2007.  OS-Cubed developed and deployed this DotNetNuke based real estate solution, and is providing hosting services for the product.  WebHomeUSA.COM is the brain-child of Real Estate guru Clifford Jacobson.  Their motto "a free website for every home" will eventually provide the ability for each home to have it's own website in the entire country.  Initially set up to work with the Rochester Area MLS system (provided by homesteadnet.com) the system allows you to search the entire area for homes on sale, and provides mash-ups using both Google and MS-Live maps showing homes locations.

The delivered product is "version 1.0" and WebHomeUSA.COM is seeking funding to drive development to version 2.0. 

OS-Cubed, Inc. provided skin design, module design, FTP Synchronization application design, project management, programming, and hosting services to WebHomeUSA.com.  All products are developed in .NET 2.0, VB.NET or ASP.NET, DotNetNuke, and SQL 2005.

Upstate NY Builders exchanges now have a powerful new search tool in their toolbelts.  The Upstate NY Exchanges teamed together with OS-Cubed have created a search engine that indexes their roughly 3 million image-only PDF documents into a searchable text index.  The system, developed by OS-Cubed programmers, uses OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to embed the text of a scanned plan back into the PDF document, and then indexes that document in a master index, using Microsoft's Fast Text Search capability.  Members can search across millions of pages for document topics that most closely match the type of information they're looking for.

The capability is currently a members-only feature.  It integrates with their back-end iPIN software to create a seamless environment for search between the two applications.  A simple google-like interface allows fast searching and quick result display.  The OCR engine, file management tool and indexing all run on a self-contained plug-in server.

The system is written using ASP.NET 2.0, VB.NET, MS SQL Server, and an XML integration feature that allows exchange between the search engine authentication and any back end plan room tool.  The search page itself is deployed on a DNN 4.x platform allowing it to be easily ported to sites and portals.

OS-Cubed, Inc. has sponsored the website for the 2007 St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Chatham, NJ mission trip to Belize.  The site, uses our new Classic Lines Skin Pack, with it's colorful photos, and the content was completely developed and created by St. Paul's volunteers without any training.
